Planning and Working are separate activities. We should not really mix the two actions. It is best to Plan and then Do. It is also best to plan early (either the morning of or the evening before). You do not work 24/7. So it is important to establish your duties hours. This can be your work period on the job, or even extend beyond our standard office time. For work-at-home folks this period may begin early and end late. You should establish a specific start time and an end time.
How many things do you try to keep in your head? Would not it be nice to free up that energy by using a checklist? How many mistakes have you made that using a checklist might have prevented? The only way you will learn how using checklists can dramatically improve your life is by using them. Experience the benefits firsthand, over time! Like doctors and pilots, you will most likely be gratified by how checklists help you "get things right". So, how can you use time management right now to live most effectively?
With every new task or project, decide if the effort is worth your time and energy. If you are spending too much time on one project, chances are you are not moving ahead with your goals. Take a good look at your to-do list again and reassess your priorities. Spend a few minutes every morning taking stock of your checklist. How many of those tasks need to get done by you? How many can get done by others? Keep realistic and honest expectations of what needs to get done in a given day. Managing stress is much easier when letting go of those unnecessary tasks.
Balance your work schedule with enjoyable "pick-me-up" activities that help manage your stress creatively. This is not an option but a necessity! Making time for fun and enjoyable activities is all about respecting yourself and also modeling this for your family. Start with small activities like spending time at a park or seeing your favorite movie.
Avoid feeling compelled to take on too many responsibilities all at once. Decide in advance what activities and tasks must get done and write these down on your checklist. For less important activities, consider bartering your services with other moms or dumping them altogether. You will be amazed at how much time you have left in the day to do other fun or important things!
Regardless how you accomplish them, there are some basics in planning your work day. Let`s discover some basic rules tips and suggestions that can help you truly spend your time wisely. Remember, our days are like bank accounts. Rather than being filled with dollars they are filled with hours and they are refilled to capacity each day. Perhaps we should use this asset as efficiently as we can.
